Just over a week remains for the application deadline for the Fiji 7s coaching job.
However there is no word on whether any top overseas 7s coaches have applied for the job.
FRU CEO John O’Connor says they cannot reveal anything yet and will release all the information after the 30th of this month.
Some local coaches have shown interest and are expected to apply for the job.
However there is a huge interest amongst fans on whether the Fiji Rugby Union will continue in the same direction and appoint a top overseas coach to take things forward.
The new coach is expected to come in before the Dubai 7s which kicks off on December 2nd.
The training squad for the Dubai and Cape Town 7s tournaments is yet to be announced.
The new coach also needs to get the team ready for the World Cup 7s in USA in July, 2018, the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April 2018 and the next Olympic Games in Japan in 2020.
There is some talk that South Africa 7s coach Neil Powell or USA coach Mike Friday may be the best people to coach the Fiji 7s side.
However the FRU stresses that no comments will be made until after the applications close.
