The Bristol Bears have suffered a major setback after their rampaging Fijian winger Siva Naulago has been ruled out for the next 6 weeks after fracturing his cheekbone in a head collision last Friday when they played Gloucester.

Naulago started the new Gallagher Premiership this season looking dangerous, scoring against both Newcastle and Gloucester in round 1 and round 2 respectively.

The injury is the latest lay-off for the 33-year-old with an explosive try-scoring record for the club.

Director of Bristol Rugby Pat Lam says they will have more information on Naulago’s injury today.

Lam says Naulago’s service will be missed as he was capable of firing up Bristol across their early block of Premiership matches before the November break.

He says Naulago is a strike weapon but this is all part of life, the resilience where whenever you get injured, you’re out, the show goes on and it is an opportunity to hopefully come back stronger.

Bristol will play Bath at 2.05am Sunday in round 3 of the Gallagher Premiership.
