Fiji Pearls vice-captain Maria Lutua has secured a contract with Australia’s top netball club, Sunshine Coast Lightning.
Lutua has been training with the Lightning for some weeks but has now been invited to remain with the club.
The 27‑year‑old attacker from Ba went to Australia after a stint with the Yorkshire Jets in the UK Super League and has 52 test caps for the Fiji Pearls.
Lutua’s experience will be joined with Ashlen Garrett, Ashlee Unie and Dominque Scott as Lightning's reserve players outside of the 10‑player roster.
Lutua will be playing alongside Silver Ferns captain Laura Langman, Stephanie Wood from Australia, Geva Mentor from England and Karla Mostert from South Africa.
