Kulas stage comeback to edge Solomon Islands 3-2 in OFC Women's Nations Cup pool match

The Fiji Kulas made a strong comeback in the second half to beat the Solomon Islands 3-2 in an exciting first pool match of the OFC Women's Nations Cup.

The match began with high intensity, and it was the visitors who struck first - Lorina Solosaia opened the scoring for the Solomon Islands in the 8th minute to give her side an early lead.

Fiji responded in the 40th minute through Narieta Leba, who found the back of the net after a well-worked move.

However, just two minutes later, Solosaia struck again with her second goal, giving the Solomon Islands a 2-1 lead at half time.

The Kulas came out with renewed determination in the second half, with Cema Nasau stepping to score in the 50th minute, bringing the score to 2-2.

The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute when Nasau's second goal sealed a 3-2 victory for Fiji over the Solomon Islands.

While speaking to fijivillage Sports, Kulas head coach Angeline Chua says the team had some problems in the first half, but they reacted well and adjusted to the game.

She adds that some players who did not appear in this match will be seen on the field in their next match.

The Kulas will face Tonga in their second pool game on Tuesday at 7pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.

They will then take on Vanuatu on Friday at 7pm, also at the HFC Bank Stadium.
