Pacific Sprint King, Banuve Tabakaucoro says he lost his passion for athletics three years ago and it has been something he wanted to tell people.
Tabakaucoro has come out saying this, after announcing his official switch to 7s rugby at launch of a new rugby club Silverwaters Barbarians at the Suva Civic Centre.
The 23‑year‑old will be playing for this new club.
Tabakaucoro says he always had an eye for 7s rugby as it may offer more challenges and can be the start of a new journey.
He says sevens rugby is like running a 100‑metre race with obstacles.
Tabakaucoro expects his rugby career to pick up by next year.
Meanwhile, Co‑founder of the Silverwater Barbarians, Frank Hamagushi says he formed the rugby club to give unemployed youth an opportunity to be able to secure a financial future for them and their families.
Hamagushi knows the team will go far as it is filled with experienced boys that are great at the sport.
Silverwaters Barbarians will be participating in an Australian Rugby tour where they will face teams from other countries.
