Gospel High School disqualified from the Southern Zone rugby semifinals under 60-day window rule

The Gospel High School U18 rugby side was disqualified under the Fiji Secondary Schools Deans Competition 60-day transfer window of students.

This was highlighted by the Assistant Principal of Gospel High, Savenaca Muamua, when questioned by fijivillage News on why their U18 rugby team was removed from the Vodafone Southern Zone Secondary Schools Deans competition semi final.

Muamua says it was decided that the rugby team breached the by-laws through a transfer letter sent late to them by the former school of one of their players.

The Assistant Principal says their U18 player, who is a former Suva Sangam College student, was enrolled at their school on the 19th of April this year but he only received the release letter on the 25th of last month.

He adds the school heads have respected the decision and will always support the Southern Zone Competition.

The U18 semi finals in the Southern Zone Competition have been confirmed for this Saturday where Suva Grammar School will host Sacred Heart College at 2.40pm and Marist Brothers High School host Nasinu Secondary School at 1.15pm.
