Matt Giteau's Wallabies career has ended in despair.
Scans have revealed the veteran centre broke his ankle during the heavy loss to the All Blacks in Sydney.
He is out for the rest of the Rugby Championship, along with fellow centre Rob Horne who is likely to need a shoulder reconstruction.
Coach Michael Cheika says Giteau is disappointed but also realistic and knows he has to get himself right for club commitments with Toulon.
The Wallabies will meet the All Blacks at 7.35pm Saturday at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
