Flying Fijians joins Nations Cup next year as a tier 1 team

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians will now be known as a tier 1 team and will be part of the Nations Cup series.

This was revealed by coach Mick Byrne, who says that everything they are doing as an organisation and a group must now reflect that.

Byrne says they are excited by the future of the game for the team because, over the past years, they have been given the opportunity to play one or two tier 1 teams a year.

He says it has been a great challenge for the team and exciting as well, and when they look at it in reality, there has been a lot of debate over the years about whether the Rugby Championship is better than the Six Nations.

He adds he has been lucky enough to coach in both environments, and they are both world-class.

Byrne says they are now looking forward to the next window of opportunity to present Fiji Rugby to the world.

Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians are scheduled to play the Wallabies on 6th July in Newcastle, Australia.

They then play Scotland on the 12th of July at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
