Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s rep Sera Bolatini will be making history this weekend as she will be the first ever female Fijian boxer to fight for an international boxing title when she takes on Australia's Connie Chan for the WBA Women's Australasia Welterweight title in the Zeg King's Boxing Promotion.

The 24-year-old is currently on a break from rugby training as she turns her focus to creating a piece of her own history in boxing before she resumes her rugby training program.

During an interview with fijivillage News, Bolatini says she is thankful for this opportunity to be part of history.

She says never in her dreams that a title fight like this would come so early and she sees this as a blessing, especially when she is still in the early stages of her boxing career.

Originally from Vuma village in Levuka, Ovalau, Bolatini says the support she has been getting from her family as well as her village is overwhelming and she vows not to let them down this weekend.

When asked about the challenges with the transitions, especially when she's playing two professional sports, Bolatini says she is enjoying the challenges.

She says she loves sports and to juggle with training for two professional sports, she does not see that as a huge challenge, but as a motivation knowing that she can be an inspiration to young aspiring female athletes and show them that nothing is impossible.

Bolatini says she is confident of producing a positive result this weekend and hopes to make the country proud.

The Zeg King’s Boxing Promotion will start at 4.30pm this Saturday with exhibition matches before the professional bouts start at 6pm at the Vodafone Arena, Suva.
