Traditional rivals, Fiji and Samoa will meet in the first pool match of the Sydney 7s and Fiji is definitely wary of an unpredictable Samoan side which is now coached by Sir Gordon Tietjens.
Speaking to Fijivillage from Sydney, Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber says Tietjens has done a lot for the game of 7s however he says Fiji has a plan in place.
Baber says he has not experienced the rivalry between the two teams but he will get a feel of it this weekend.
Baber is expected to name the team for the Sydney 7s on Friday.
Fiji will play Samoa in their first game at 11.36am this Saturday, their second game is against Wales at 2.42pm and the final pool match is against France at 8.29pm.
The Gold Medal Quarter Finals will start at 12.58pm Sunday, the semis will start at 4.53pm while the final will kick off at 7.51pm.
Barring any upsets Fiji may meet New Zealand, Scotland or Australia in the quarterfinal.
