The Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team was reduced to five men in two crunch matches of the Cape Town 7s and these were matches against quality sides like New Zealand and USA.

We also received two yellow cards against Japan.

In total, Fiji received six yellow cards in South Africa and Fiji 7s players were also sin-binned six times in the Dubai 7s last week.

Captain, Paula Dranisinukula and Meli Derenalagi were shown yellow cards against New Zealand early this morning leaving Fiji to play with five men for almost two minutes of the first half.

Dranisinukula and Vilimoni Botitu were yellow-carded against USA where Fiji was played almost two minutes with five players.

The offences range from high tackles, shoulder charge, deliberate

knock-ons and challenging players in mid-air.

Serious work regarding major indiscipline issues will have to be carried out by the team management as we get ready for the Hamilton 7s which will be played on the 25th and 26th of next month.

Fiji is in 6th place with 23 points in the HSBC World 7s Series standings.

New Zealand and South Africa top the HSBC World 7s Series standings with 41 points each.
