Fiji Men’s 7s secure 2 wins in 2 games on day 1 of Coral Coast 7s

The Fiji Men’s 7s side secured 2 wins from 2 matches on day 1 of the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s competition that is currently underway in Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

The star-studded side defeated Brothers 19-5 in the first game before beating NZ 2 10-0 in the second game.

Discipline is one of the major issues that coach Osea Kolinisau will need to raise with the side before they head into the remaining 2 days of the tournament after they received 2 yellow cards within a minute in the second half of their match against NZ 2.

Meanwhile, NZ 1 also secured two wins from 2 games today following their 24-14 win over Colo West Highlanders in the first game and a close 14-12 win over the Drua 7s earlier this afternoon.

In some other results from today, Bula Bay 7s edged Manu Samoa 7s 14-12, Drua 7s held Seattle Barbarians to a 14-all draw, NZ 1 defeated Colo West Highlanders 24-14, McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s beat Devo Babas 26-12, Australian Select 7s defeated Takita Brothers 7s 19-7 and Tuva beat NZ 2 24-19.

In the under 18 grade, U18 Japan SDS defeated Navala Rugby 35-7, Tubarua Youth defeated McDonald’s Saunaka Youth 12-0, Bilo Bar Aflame Youth defeated Sunnybank Dragons 22-5, Pacific NOMADS Youth edged Tuva Youth 14-12, Southland Broncos thumped NOI Nabua 25-0, Sausauvou Taveuni Youth thrashed Sacramento Kaji 46-0 and Dominion Brothers defeated Nauru Youth 22-0.

In the women’s category, NZ Development Women thrashed Lava City Savusavu 47-0,
