Swire Shipping Fijian Drua back rower Vilive Miramira says he is motivated by his family and where he comes from as he is the first one from his village to don the white jumper.

Miramira says growing up he used to watch the Fiji team especially the 7s side and dreamt of becoming a professional rugby player one day.

He says his parents did not agree with his dreams and encouraged him to continue with his studies.

The 24-year-old says it wasn’t until he completed his Year 13 when he told his parents that he was bored of sitting in the classroom and wanted to try rugby.

He says his parents started supporting him when he joined the Under 20 team.

When asked how does he stand out since there is a lot of competition for his position, Miramira says by learning from his mistakes.

Miramira says his advice to upcoming players is to get away from their comfort zones and integrity, every small thing you do be honest.

The Drua kick off their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Blues in Auckland on 24th February.
