FRU records $100,000 profit despite audit qualification for 2024 accounts
FRU Chairman, John Sanday

The Fiji Rugby Union has recorded a profit of $100,000 for the 2024 financial year, an outcome described as a positive result in the context of ongoing efforts to strengthen rugby across all levels.

FRU Chairman, John Sanday says while the accounts were audited and found to be qualified, the auditors clarified that the qualification was due to a pending reconciliation of VAT.

Sanday says the reconciliation process is still underway, but the accounts had to be closed early due to the timing of the annual general meeting, and the auditors have explained the situation and confirmed that FRU is working toward a fully unqualified set of accounts by April 2025 for the next financial year.

He says despite the audit note, the FRU remains focused on expanding the game through its 26 affiliated unions and grassroots development continues to be a priority, with efforts underway to secure more sponsorship and technical expertise to support long-term growth and sustainability in rugby development.
