Scotland based club Edinburgh have officially confirmed the signing of Fiji Olympic sevens gold‑medallist Viliame Mata.
The club released a statement today saying they have confirmed a two‑year deal with Viliame Mata but it is subject to a medical and visa.
The 24‑year‑old lock has been part of Fiji’s sevens squad for the past two years.
Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons says Mata who he calls Bill is a hugely talented player.
Solomons says Mata is big, powerful and explosive and will add huge value.
Mata says the goal was to win the gold medal for Fiji but he will perform well for his new team.
Viliame Mata will join fellow Fijian Solomoni Rasolea who plays centre Edinburgh.
