The Crusaders shone in atrocious conditions in Christchurch to storm into the semifinals of Super Rugby with an emphatic 17‑0 win over the Highlanders last night.
Chasing their eighth title and first since 2008, the Crusaders will remain in Christchurch next week to meet the Chiefs who clung on to beat the Stormers 17‑11 in Cape Town and fill the fourth Super Rugby semifinal berth.
In the last of the four quarterfinals, the Lions survived a massive scare to defeat the unfancied Sharks 23‑21 at Ellis Park last night.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes who defeated the Brumbies 35-16 to seal a spot in the semifinals travel to South Africa to take on the Lions in what will be a repeat of the final last year.
