Defending Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific champion the Crusaders' stand-in captain Tom Christie has revealed that it will be an exciting battle of the forwards when they take on the Waratahs in round 8 of the competition tonight.
Christie has spoken highly of the Waratahs’ loose forwards saying that they are great at the breakdown and they apply a lot of pressure in that area.
He says for the Crusaders to counter the Waratahs in that area, they need to make sure they go in with an attacking mindset and walk forward to that challenge.
Christie also says that the Waratahs are one of the top lineout defensive sides in the competition as well, so they're going to do that against anyone, let alone the Crusaders.
He further says the Crusaders always enjoy going on tour because it is always fun and they pride themselves on how they tour.
The Crusaders have not had a great start to their season this year with a record 5 consecutive losses in their first 5 games before registering their first win of the season last 2 weeks when they beat the Chiefs 37-26 at home.
The Waratahs on the other hand will want to record a back-to-back win against the Crusaders for just the third time and they will also want to get back to winning ways after recording five consecutive losses in the last 5 weeks.
The Waratahs’ only win this year was recorded in round two of the competition.
The Crusaders will take on the Waratahs at 9.35 tonight in Sydney.
In other matches this weekend, Moana Pasifika will host the Reds at 7.05 tonight, the Hurricanes will play the Chiefs at 7.05pm tomorrow and the Rebels will take on the Highlanders at 9.35pm tomorrow.
