The cost for the Vodafone Flying Fijians three test matches against the Tier One nations is over $2 million.
Chairman of the Fiji National Sports Commission Peter Mazey highlighted this while handing over a cheque of $580,000 to the Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor.
Mazey says World Rugby has contributed 50% of the costs and the sponsor has given $200,000.
He says playing against Italy is very good for rugby in Fiji and if we do better against Scotland we can improve our world rankings.
Mazey says Fiji is lucky this year to get three test matches against tier one nations and has encouraged everyone to support the team.
Meanwhile CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union, John O’Connor thanked the government for the grant.
O’Connor says without the support of the government, World Rugby would have been reluctant to give the three test matches against the Tier One nations.
Fiji will take on the Wallabies in Melbourne at 5pm this Saturday.
