Fiji Water Flying Fijians backrower Elia Canakaivata is slowly stamping his mark on the international stage following another impressive performance for the Flying Fijians in their 22-3 win over the USA Eagles in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup semi final over the weekend.
The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua rep started at number 8 and scored two tries in each half to help the side secure the win.
In an analysis done by Rugbypass.com after the game, they stated that Canakaivata was everywhere.
They say although he is not the biggest number 8, he was a key ball carrier, powering through tackles and providing Fiji with crucial go-forward momentum.
They add his defensive efforts were also decent, with some key turnovers adding to a well-rounded performance.
Canakaivata is likely to be a starter again for the PNC final when they take on Japan this weekend.
The Flying Fijians will play Japan at 10.05pm this Saturday at Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Japan.
