Byrne happy with development players in the Drua

Having the young development players in the squad is a great step forward for the team and for the future of the Drua.

This was highlighted by Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach, Mick Byrne after their impressive victory over the Melbourne Rebels 24-0 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi during the weekend.

He says the four development players that got a chance to play in the pre-season match was impressive and it is a sign of good times for Fiji Rugby.

Byrne also says Livai Natave and Philip Baselala showed their class when they came onto the field and he was impressed with how they managed to deliver.

He says there are still some areas they need to work on before the 2023 Shop n Save Super Rugby Pacific kicks-off next month and he is confident his players will deliver.

He says ball carrying and security are two of the main issues they will focus on as they prepare for their second pre season trial match against Western Force in Perth on the 16th of February, 2023.

The Fijian Drua will take on Moana Pasifika in the first round of the Super Rugby Pacific competition on the 25th of February at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland.
