Kyle Brown has stepped down as South Africa Sevens captain and will instead settle into a more supportive role to the younger leaders in the squad, with Philip Snyman appointed as the new captain.
South Africa Sevens coach Neil Powell has praised Brown for the role he played over the last five seasons and emphasised that the veteran still has an important role to play in the team.
Powell says they already have a strong leadership group in the squad and that Philip is a natural leader, so it was an easy choice.
Brown, who has played in 56 World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments to date, says the time has come where it feels right for him to step aside as captain of the team.
Meanwhile the Vodafone Fiji 7s team will play their first game against Canada at 7.52pm next Friday and they will face Wales at 11.47pm.
They will play their final pool match against Argentina at 4.48am next Saturday.
The Cup quarters start at 8pm next Saturday, the Cup semis start at 1.41am next Sunday while the Final kicks off at 4.33am Sunday.
