British and Irish Lions winger Anthony Watson has revealed he shared a bowl of kava with Sonny Bill Williams in Fiji after the tour to show there were no hard feelings from the All Blacks' controversial shoulder charge.
The Times newspaper in the UK has taken a lengthy look at the Lions' stunning second test win in Wellington that helped them share the series, speaking to some of the key characters involved in and around the dramatic match.
Watson confirmed that Williams had messaged him on Twitter to apologise in the aftermath to the match and he held no grudge.
Watson says he went on holiday to Fiji afterwards and Sonny Bill was in the same hotel and they ended up having a bowl of kava together.
Watson has a strong recall of the incident though he said at the time he did not know whether Williams should be sent from the field.
Williams received a four‑week ban for the dangerous hit and was not involved in the drawn third test that saw the series squared.
