ANC Cakobau Challenge between Police and Corrections Service to be held at Albert Park on October 31st

The 2025 Armed Native Constabulary Cakobau Bowl Challenge between Police and Fiji Corrections Service will be held at Albert Park on the 31st of this month.

The Cakobau Bowl is a prestigious annual sporting competition and trophy in Fiji, contested between the Corrections Service and Police.

Accepting the challenge for the Corrections Service, Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi says that over the next two weeks, the Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force will be celebrating 100 years of existence in Fiji, emphasizing that one cannot exist without the other.

Naucukidi says this competition is more than just a game; it holds a special place in their hearts, as both institutions began as one family and must continue to find ways to work together in today’s fast-changing criminal landscape.

He adds that this year, they are well-prepared to challenge for the Cakobau Bowl, and the players understand the importance and value of this match to the force.

Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga says that despite being two different forces, they remain under the legal framework that governs the criminal justice system in Fiji.

Lutunauga adds that come the 31st of this month, they may compete on two different fields and represent two different teams, but they share one purpose, which is to protect the people of Fiji and ensure their safety and security.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Corrections Service will also field a team to play against the National Fire Authority on the same day for the Commander-in-Shield Challenge, before the main Cakobau Bowl match.
