Former Wallabies winger Mark Nawaqanitawase could potentially be making his international rugby league debut for the Vodafone Fiji Bati in the upcoming Pacific Championships next month after being confirmed that he is set to make his NRL debut for Sydney Roosters tonight.

Nawaqanitawase, who represented the Australian Rugby 7s team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, will play for the Roosters in tonight’s Round 27 clash against South Sydney after just three NSW Cup appearances

The 23-year-old qualifies for Fiji through his father Sevuloni, who moved to Sydney in 1991 to play rugby league for Balmain.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson, who confirmed Nawaqanitawase would make his NRL debut against the Rabbitohs, says Nawaqanitawase had caught his eye in rugby union.

He says he has seen Nawaqanitawase play and adapt to different situations and he likes the way that the winger goes about his game.

Nawanitawase has been named to start for the Roosters on the wing when they take on the Rabbitohs at 10pm.
