Muaniweni uplifts school spirit with Raluve quarter-final debut

For the first time in history, Muaniweni College in Naitasiri has qualified for the national quarter-finals of the Weet-Bix Raluve competition.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, school principal Sanjelesh Abay Nand says the team began their off-season training during the Term 1 school break, with the goal of raising their standard of rugby this year.

Nand says that although the players are small in size, he believed in their potential, and they have proven him right.

He adds that the players' effort has created a positive atmosphere in the school and continues to motivate them to reach the next level.

The principal also highlighted that in Term 1, the school introduced early morning classes to allow more time for training in the afternoons.

He is urging parents, guardians, and old scholars to come out in numbers to support the team, as it will boost the girls’ morale on the field.

In the Under- 18 grade, schools competing include Adi Cakobau School, Jasper Williams High School, Natabua High School, Nasinu Secondary School and MGM High School.

The matches will be held this weekend at Bidesi and Buckhurst Grounds in Suva.
