Narawa re-signs for NZRU and the Chiefs till 2026

Fiji-born All Blacks and Chiefs winger Emoni Narawa has re-signed with New Zealand Rugby and the Chiefs through to 2026.

The 24-year-old took the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition by storm last year with his breakout performance for the Chiefs earning himself an All Blacks call-up.

Narawa suffered an injury before the Rugby World Cup last year ruling him out of the tournament and missing the first few rounds of this year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition.

Upon returning from that injury this season, Narawa has scored eight tries in just seven outings to retain his status as one of the competition’s premier scoring threats.

After signing his contract, Narawa says he is blessed and grateful for the opportunity to extend his time with the Chiefs until 2026. He says the club is his family and has helped him become the player that he is today and adds that he is excited for what’s to come.

Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan says it is fantastic that Narawahas recommitted to the Chiefs for the next few years.

McMillan says Narawa has always had massive potential, and it has been a real pleasure seeing his talent realised over the last few seasons, exemplified by his selection as an All-Black last year.

He says the 24-year-old has an unbelievable ability to see space and create opportunities for himself and others and is a valued team member and a real character who contributes significantly both on and off the field.

Narawa and the Chiefs will host the Hurricanes at 7.05pm this Friday in round 14 of the Super Rugby Pacific competition.

Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will take on the Highlanders at 2.05pm this Sunday in Dunedin.

In other matches this week, the Brumbies host the Rebels at 9.35pm Friday, Moana Pasifika takes on the Waratahs at 4.35pm Saturday, the Crusaders play the Blues at 7.05pm Saturday, and the Reds meet the Force at 9.35pm Saturday.
