The Head Coach position for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians will be openly advertised, allowing all suitably qualified candidates including local coaches the opportunity to apply.
Fiji Rakavi Football Union CEO, Koli Sewabu stated this to fijivillage News, saying the appointment of a Head Coach is a significant decision for Fiji Rugby and, as such, is not a process that can be undertaken overnight.
Sewabu says this requires careful consideration, due diligence, and consultation with a range of stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for the team and the organization.
He says with the Pacific Nations Cup approaching in the coming weeks, current Acting Coach Senirusi Seruvakula's extension through this campaign provides continuity while the recruitment process is undertaken.
The FRU CEO says as they have communicated previously, Fiji Rugby is currently in a period of transition.
He says following the Nations Championship campaign, a comprehensive review was undertaken, and the findings will be presented to the Board at its meeting this Saturday.
He says the review has provided valuable insights into their current position, highlighted areas for improvement, and informed their direction as they prepare for Rugby World Cup 2027, now just over a year away.
Sewabu says while on-field performance remains a key priority, their focus extends beyond results alone.
He adds they have a clear vision for the future and remain committed to making decisions that support both the immediate needs of the Flying Fijians and the long-term success of Fiji Rugby as a whole.
