The McDonald’s Fiji Drua Women have secured a home semi-final and clinched the minor premiership after finishing at the top of the regular season standings in the Swyftx Super Rugby Women’s competition.
The side confirmed their position at the summit following a commanding 50-17 victory over the Queensland Reds last month, capping off a strong campaign that saw them emerge as the top-performing team with 14 points.
This marks only the second time in the franchise’s history that the Drua Women have finished as minor premiers, with their first coming in the 2022 season.
It is also just the second time they will host a home semi-final, marking a significant milestone for the relatively young side.
The result has been welcomed as a boost for women’s rugby in Fiji, with the team’s success continuing to build strong support at both domestic and regional levels.
The Drua Women will now turn their attention to the upcoming semi-final, where they will enjoy home advantage as they push for a place in the grand final.
The Drua Women will face the Reds next Saturday at 1.05pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
