BSP and BSP Life $100,000 sponsorship strengthens cervical cancer screening in Fiji
Cervical cancer screening efforts have received a boost as Bank of South Pacific and BSP Life have delivered their $100,000 sponsorship commitment to the Fiji Cancer Society, supporting initiatives to strengthen cervical cancer screening and contribute to the Government of Fiji’s National Cervical Cancer Elimination Programme.

As part of this broader sponsorship, a GeneX machine has arrived into the country that will enhance the Cancer Society diagnostic capabilities and support improved access to cervical cancer screening services.

BSP and the Society say this Partnership enhances the FCS screening capability by enabling on-site testing and faster results, making it easier to identify women who require follow-up care and treatment.

BSP Relieving Country Head Maikash Ali says the bank was proud to support a partnership that delivers tangible benefits for communities.

Ali says they are proud to support the national effort to eradicate cervical cancer and the arrival of this machine means more women can benefit from timely screening and earlier intervention.

He says they encourage women across Fiji to take advantage of these services because early detection can save lives.

FCS Chief Executive Officer, Belinda Chan says the GeneX machine represents a significant step forward in expanding access to cervical cancer screening.

She says this BSP-funded GeneX machine will significantly strengthen our screening
programme by enabling faster, more efficient testing and supporting the expansion of their community outreach services. Our goal is to bring screening closer to women, making it easier for them to get tested within their own
communities and receive timely care when needed.

BSP and the Society say cervical cancer is one cancer that can be eliminated and, when detected early, is highly treatable.

They say through this partnership, BSP, BSP Life and the Fiji Cancer Society are helping remove barriers to screening and encouraging more women to access these potentially life-saving services.
