Rokotunidau’s case adjourned to Thursday after change of counsel

Saimoni Rokotunidau, who is charged with the attempted murder of a female police officer in Laqere and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, will have his case called again on Thursday after deciding to change counsel.

Rokotunidau has chosen to be represented by Legal Aid after he was unable to contact his previous counsel, Jerry Dinati.

High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere has directed Legal Aid to obtain the disclosures from Dinati so they can prepare for the trial.

Justice Tuiqereqere also told Rokotunidau that he will make a decision on his bail next week.

Dinati later appeared in court and formally sought to be excused from representing Rokotunidau.
