Vanuabalavu Day focuses on community development, investment and cultural preservation

Raising funds for community development and investment in Vanuabalavu, while preserving culture and strengthening relationships, will be the key focus of this year’s Vanuabalavu Day, which will be held from tomorrow until Friday.

Speaking at a press conference on the joint venture in copra investment with Waitavoro Enterprise, Vanuabalavu Vision Limited Secretary Tomi Waqa Finau says part of the development plans for communities on the island includes rebuilding their church, which has been in the planning phase for the past two years.

He says people attending Vanuabalavu Day will also have the opportunity to experience signature Lauan dishes such as vakasakera and spit-roast pork.

He adds that this is the sixth year the festival has been held.

Vanuabalavu Day starts tomorrow at 9am at the Fiji Sports Council car park.
