Fiji's maritime security will receive a significant boost with the addition of a new fleet of fast inshore patrol boats, enhancing the Fiji Navy's ability to protect the nation's maritime borders and respond to operational demands.
The patrol boats were officially handed over by the Government of Japan during a ceremony attended by the Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, and Japan's Ambassador to Fiji, Hiroshi Tajima.
Tikoduadua says the new vessels will enhance the Fiji Navy's ability to conduct coastal surveillance, maritime patrols, search and rescue missions, and support whole-of-government operations across Fiji's extensive maritime domain.

Meanwhile, Fiji Navy expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their continued partnership and support through the Official Security Assistance framework.
The Fiji Navy says this valuable investment reinforces Fiji's ability to safeguard its sovereignty, strengthen maritime security, and ensure the safety of all who depend on the nation's waters.
