We will meet again with the Fiji Roads Authority, and Ministry of Waterways next week to determine a permanent solution to the persistent flooding behind MHCC in Suva.

This has been highlighted by Suva City Council CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa after fijivillage News raised concerns about the flooding that has again occurred behind MHCC this afternoon.

Boseiwaqa says the Council has already met with the Fiji Roads Authority and Ministry of Waterways to discuss the issue.

There is still no deadline on when this recurring issue will be fixed.

He says the area has an underground outlet issue, while most of the infrastructure is also ageing.

Boseiwaqa says a special drive has been initiated by the Minister for Works to look into the drainage and infrastructure concerns, with the FRA now coming onboard.

The area has experienced repeated flooding during periods of significant rainfall, with the existing drainage infrastructure unable to cope with the volume of water.

We have sent further questions to the Fiji Roads Authority and Waterways for details on the work required and when a permanent solution is expected.
