St John’s College girls’ hostel stove repaired, fundraising needed for boys’ hostel stove

Students at the girls' hostel of St John's College in Cawaci, Ovalau, can now have their meals prepared using the hostel's stove, which is fully repaired and operational after months of fundraising.

Principal Alosio Saukuru confirmed to fijivillage News that the repairs were made possible through fundraising by the Lautoka-based St John's College Old Scholars Association.

The school had been relying on firewood to prepare meals for students at the girls' hostel after the stove broke down last year.

Saukuru says the association is now fundraising for repairs to the cooking facilities at the boys' hostel, which are also showing signs of deterioration.

He says the association is targeting November to begin work on the boys' hostel stove, subject to the funds raised.

Anyone wishing to assist or make a donation can contact Saukuru on 2029875.
