Soil Science Technician Iosefo Tuisiga is encouraging students to take advantage of the opportunity, saying they can now receive quality training closer to home instead of travelling to Viti Levu.
Originally from Vuya in Bua, Tuisiga says the new Living Laboratory Vuvale Garden provides students with practical experience in integrated farming by combining agriculture, animal science, forestry and fisheries in one learning environment.
He says the initiative is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in Fiji's agriculture sector.
Tuisiga is encouraging school leavers and anyone interested in agriculture to enrol in the certificate and diploma programmes offered at the Labasa campus.
He says the programmes provide a valuable pathway into the industry while allowing students to remain in Vanua Levu.
