Two grandfathers charged with raping their young granddaughters in Nov

An 80-year-old man has been charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 12-year-old granddaughter while in another case a 69-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape of his 9-year-old granddaughter last month.

The Office of the Director says there were 12 cases filed last month with a total of 27 counts of sexual offences.

There were 22 counts of rape, 1 indecent assault, 1 defilement and 3 sexual assault.

The ODPP says of the 12 accused persons, 2 were under the age of 18.

There were 12 victims of whom 9 victims were under the age of 18 years; 10 victims were female and two male victims.

There were six incidents where the victims and the accused were related to one another.

A 51-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 16-year-old stepdaughter, however, this matter was discontinued due to insufficient evidence.

A 38-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 16-year-old niece while in another incident, a 33-year-old man was charged with the rape and defilement of his 15-year-old niece.

There was one incident where a 48-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 16-year-old nephew.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with the rape of a 7-year-old boy from his village.

A 13-year-old boy was charged with the rape of an 8-year-old girl from his village.

There was one incident where a 48-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 28-year-old woman.

A 23-year-old man was charged with the rape, indecent assault and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl from his village.

In another incident, a 31-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 19-year-old woman.

The accused person was also charged with an assault causing actual bodily harm.

Two cases were discontinued due to insufficient evidence.
