Tabuya urges kindness amid rising online abuse
Minister for Information Lynda Tabuya

With online abuse and violence continuing to be a concern in this digital era, Minister for Information Lynda Tabuya has called on the public to always choose kindness in the words and content we share online.

While officiating at the crowning of the Punjas Fiji Miss Tebara 2025, Tabuya says online abuse and violence are no longer a distant threat but are close to home.

She says it is in our phones, our rooms and our homes, disrupting our peace and attempting to convince us that we are less than who we truly are.

The Minister says there are a lot of unfair comments and criticisms online where people may not have the opportunity to respond.

She adds that people should show strength and not be swayed by what they hear or see behind the keyboard, but respond with words that inspire, empower and uplift.

Tabuya says people should think before they post online.

The Minister says digital platforms can help us move forward, but they can also destroy someone’s life.
