Supporting young rugby league players vital for development – Civoniceva

Building stronger community connections and pathways for children and young people in Fiji, while providing meaningful support for young rugby league players, is paramount to their development.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Kaiviti Silktails, Petero Civoniceva, today during the launch of the partnership between Westpac Pacific and the Kaiviti Silktails.

Civoniceva says the partnership with Westpac today marks a significant step forward and opens doors for players to invest in their future.

He says the partnership will equip people with money and management skills since some of these players have never had a bank account.

Kaiviti Silktails CEO, Stephen Driscoll says under the sponsorship programme, Westpac Fiji has been named the official banking partner of the Kaiviti Silktails.

He says Westpac will play an active role in supporting rugby league initiatives, youth outreach programmes, and financial literacy efforts across Fiji.

Westpac Fiji Executive Shane Smith says sports play a vital role in bringing people together in Fiji.

Smith says they are pleased to be part of a partnership that invests in communities and helps develop players for the future.

The Silktails will take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 12pm.
