Rising diesel prices strain Australia’s freight sector
PC: Aaron Fischer

Australia’s freight industry is under pressure as diesel prices continue to rise.

Truck operators say fuel costs have more than doubled, making it difficult to sustain operations.

Owner-operator Aaron Fischer stresses it now costs about A$7,500 to fill a tank, up from around A$3,600.

He says his monthly fuel bill has increased from $150,000 to $300,000, while payments can take up to 60 days.

Fischer warns this could force some operators out of business.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is urging Australians to conserve fuel, as the country faces ongoing supply challenges.
