RBF launches confidential disclosure platform to strengthen oversight on financial crime

The Reserve Bank of Fiji has officially launched a dedicated Confidential Disclosure section on its official website to provide members of the public with a safe, and confidential mechanism to report suspected breaches involving underground banking activities and other illegal activities.

These include foreign currency exchange operations conducted without the licence and authorisation from the RBF, unauthorised Money Value Transfer Services or remittance channels, the provisions of virtual assets and the activities of Virtual Asset Service Providers in Fiji and the marketing or facilitation of virtual asset products and services within Fiji.

The RBF says by reporting unauthorised/unlicensed financial activities and providers, members of the public greatly assist in the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing while supporting the stability and integrity of the Fijian financial system.

A member of the public can submit information on unlicensed financial service providers by accessing the downloadable form from the RBF website on the link: – www.rbf.gov.fj/confidential-disclosures and: – email the completed form to: confidentialdisclosure@rbf.gov.fj; or send the completed form by post to “Confidential” The Chief Manager, Financial Institutions Group, Reserve Bank of Fiji, Private Mail Bag, Suva, Fiji.

All disclosures will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality, in accordance with applicable laws.

The submission of intentionally false or malicious information is prohibited.
