New York City closed streets around Madison Square Garden as pop superstar Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce tied the knot in a star-studded wedding officiated by comedian Adam Sandler.

The ceremony drew a host of high-profile guests, including actors Hugh Grant, Jason Sudeikis and Ethan Hawke, singer Benson Boone, model Gigi Hadid and television presenter Graham Norton, while thousands of fans gathered outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrations.

The couple, both dressed by Christian Dior, opted not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen.

Instead, Swift's brother Austin Swift served as Man of Honour, while Kelce's brother Jason Kelce was Best Man.

Police cordoned off the area around the venue, diverting traffic and pedestrians as blacked-out SUVs transported guests into the arena under large tents erected to shield arrivals from cameras and crowds.

According to Swift's long-time publicist, Tree Paine, the couple married in New York.

Their wedding attire was designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women's, Men's and Haute Couture Collections, in collaboration with the bride and groom. Swift completed her look with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewellery.
