A clean-up campaign in Narere, yesterday has highlighted the urgent need for greater community responsibility in waste management which was organised by Nasinu Town Council in partnership with Rotaract Club of Suva Fiji, All Nations Christian Fellowship and Police.
The Nasinu Town Council says the campaign demonstrated a strong commitment from volunteers towards building cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities.
Special Administrator Salesh Kumar who joined the clean-up efforts, says maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility, stressing that the Council cannot do the task alone and requires the active support of residents, businesses and community groups to keep the town clean.
Kumar adds that a significant amount of rubbish collected during the campaign appeared to have been carelessly discarded, raising concerns about irresponsible waste disposal.
The Nasinu Town Council is urging the public to take better care of the environment by using proper waste disposal methods and taking pride in their surroundings.
The Council further says a clean town begins with responsible individuals and is encouraging everyone to play their part in keeping streets litter-free and protecting the environment for future generations.
Nasinu Town Council has also acknowledged the efforts of all volunteers and partner organisations, including the Fiji Police Force, for their support in the clean-up initiative.
