MSAF to look into vessel engine failure involving six health workers

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji says it will look into a vessel engine failure involving six health workers and a boat operator in due course after all seven individuals were safely rescued.

They say it joins the nation in keeping the six health workers, the boat operator and their families in its thoughts and prayers, while expressing immense gratitude that all seven individuals were safely rescued following their vessel's engine failure.

MSAF says this incident reinforces the importance of maritime safety awareness and compliance for all who rely on sea transport.

The authority says it remains committed to collaborating with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to strengthen safety practices and improve maritime awareness across communities and frontline personnel.

The authority has also extended its sincere gratitude to the crew of the Lomaiviti Princess 12, along with all agencies and individuals involved in the search and rescue operation, for their swift and decisive response.

MSAF also extends its deepest thoughts to the families and colleagues who endured an anxious wait during this ordeal.
