Narendra Modi has become India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister after completing 4,399 consecutive days in office.

The Union Cabinet yesterday passed a resolution congratulating Modi on the achievement.

Modi achieved the milestone after surpassing former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's record of 4,398 consecutive days in office between 1952 and 1964.

International leaders such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Giorgia Meloni have also congratulated him.
