Fijian Drua fall 42-22 to Chiefs in Super Round clash

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua went down 42-22 to the Waikato Chiefs in their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific Super Round game at One New Zealand Stadium.

The Fijian Drua were outscored by the top-of-the-table Chiefs 6 tries to 3.

The Drua's tries were scored by prop Mesake Doge, hooker Kavaia Tagivetaua and nippy halfback Simione Kuruvoli.

One thing is for certain, that after this weekend, everyone will know Ilaisa Droasese's name after he had a brain explosion in goal, where it looked like he wanted to grubber kick the ball to himself, which led to a Chiefs try.

The Chiefs led 28-10 at halftime.

Drua co-captain Temo Mayanavanua says while they started well, there were a couple of areas they need to be better at.

Mayanavanua commended their bench for injecting much-needed energy in the second half.

Mayanavanua says they will stay tight as a team after today's result and focus on the upcoming Highlanders game when they get back to Fiji.

Drua first-five Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula says that at halftime, the team spoke about sticking to their processes and their systems, adding that while they did that a few times, it was not enough.

The Drua will fly back tomorrow to prepare for their second-last home game against the Highlanders on Saturday at Four R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba.
