Maintaining civic pride and disposing of rubbish in designated bins is crucial in sustaining the environment and protecting public recreational spaces.

This message was shared by InsideOut music band Founder and Managing Director, Apakuki Nalawa, during a clean-up campaign at the Nukubuco Sandbank, outside Nasese.

Nalawa was part of a group that cleaned up the sandbank this morning which included Kai Wai Outrigger Canoe Club, Takia Outrigger Canoe Club, Suva SUPers, Jean Pierre Royer and Joji Tamani.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Nalawa says the group collected about eight to nine bags of rubbish from the area.

He says it is sad to see the current condition of the sandbank, which is littered with rubbish, adding that it reflects a lack of care and responsibility by some people towards Fiji’s natural beauty.

Nalawa is urging people to take extra care of the environment and dispose rubbish in their proper disposal area.
