Jacob Story wins gold in men’s 100m breaststroke at Oceania Championship
Jacob Story, representing Cook Islands, delivered a standout performance at the Oceania Swimming Chamoionship, winning gold in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke and securing the title with an outstanding time of 1.01.81.

Speaking after the race at the National Aquatic Centre, the athlete said the victory followed months of intense preparation and determination after recently moving to Australia to further his training.

The swimmer described his build-up to the competition as challenging but rewarding, saying confidence gained from previous national competitions helped him stay focused heading into the Oceania meet.

He says preparations were a bit complicated, but he carried a lot of confidence from Nationals into this competition.

Now based in Australia for training, the swimmer revealed he relocated five months ago, making the transition away from family and friends in Singapore a difficult one.

Despite travel challenges and arriving shortly before the competition, he said he was able to adjust quickly and enjoy the experience of competing before a supportive crowd at the National Aquatic Centre.

Story says it’s been so fun competing in Fiji and having a lovely crowd being so supportive makes it all come together.

The gold medallist dedicated his victory to his family and supporters in Singapore, thanking them for their continued encouragement throughout his swimming journey.
