Heavy rain causes partial collapse on Nausori highland road

Travelers using Nausori Highland Road are being urged to take extra care as part of the road is now reduced to single-lane access following a road under-slip caused by heavy rain.

The Fiji Roads Authority says the under-slip occurred at Chainage 20.791 kilometres near Mulomulo Mosque on the left-hand side of the carriageway following recent heavy rain.

The Authority says the affected section of the road will remain open to single-lane traffic until further notice.

FRA says its maintenance contractor has already been deployed to the area and restoration works will be carried out to stabilise and repair the damaged section.

Temporary traffic management measures have also been put in place while emergency works are underway to ensure the safety of both motorists and workers on site.

Drivers travelling through the area are being advised to drive carefully, follow all traffic management instructions and observe speed limits at all times.
