A heavy rain alert remains in force for the Western Division and Kadavu as a trough of low pressure with cloud and rain continues to move slowly over the country.
The Nadi Weather Office says localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in low lying and flood rone areas.
Meanwhile, Tropical Disturbance 09F, located about 940 kilometres west of Fiji near Vanuatu, is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone tomorrow, but it is not forecast to directly impact the country.
The Nadi Weather Office says the system is not expected to enter Fiji’s area; however, associated rain and strong winds are likely to affect western Viti Levu, Kadavu, Vatulele, and the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups.
They say heavy rain and strong winds averaging 40 kilometres per hour, with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour, are expected to impact these areas this weekend.
The Weather Office adds that the system is forecast to leave Fiji’s area of responsibility by Monday.
