AD Enterprises Director Sagar Hansji says the company has been in the footwear business for the past 53 years, importing and distributing shoes throughout Fiji before deciding to expand into retail.
Hansji says the company's first retail store opened on Ratu Dovi Street in Suva in 2023, followed by a second outlet in Ba in 2024.
He says 2026 has been a milestone year for the company, with the opening of two more stores—one at the Grace Complex in Laucala Beach and its fourth outlet, the new Relaxo Nitro store on Mark Street.
Hansji says the move into retail was driven by a desire to give Fijians more choice by offering a wider range of affordable, good-quality footwear in one place.
He says one of the biggest challenges has been finding shoes that suit Fijians, as many customers require larger sizes than those commonly supplied by overseas manufacturers.
Hansji says the company has been working closely with suppliers to meet local demand and ensure customers can find comfortable shoes that fit.
He says each retail outlet employs about five full-time staff members, with additional casual workers hired during busy periods, particularly during the back-to-school season when demand for school shoes increases.
Hansji says one of the company's leading brands is Nitro, which has become popular with customers looking for school and everyday footwear.
Reflecting on the company's growth, Hansji says he never expected to be running the family business as he originally pursued a career in oral health and worked for the Ministry of Health for seven years.
He joined AD Enterprises in 2023 and says the company's growth is the result of dedication, hard work and commitment.
Hansji says the company's goal is to continue growing while providing quality, affordable footwear for Fijians.
